Your commute to Queen Mary campus
Wherever your course is based, there's a good chance we've got a place nearby to keep your commute short and your student housing search simple. If you're studying at the Mile End campus, Scape Mile End is about as close to home as it gets — you're literally on campus, with Bethnal Green a short walk away and Whitechapel just one stop on the Central line.
If your courses are based more centrally — think Charterhouse Square, West Smithfield, or Lincoln's Inn Fields — you'll want to look at our city centre places instead: Scape Bloomsbury, Shoreditch, or Canada Water. Each one has its own atmosphere, but they all put you close to the action, with the comfort and features you need for a smooth university experience.
Not sure which type suits you best? Get in touch and we can talk through availability and details for each building.
How is Scape different to other accommodation providers?
When choosing your Queen Mary's student accommodation, you have a few different options depending on your year of study. If you're going into first year, the most popular choice is usually between university halls and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), such as Scape.
University halls are a popular choice for many, but the accommodation tends to be quite basic in terms of facilities, room finishes and furnishings — and it can be hard to get an en-suite. Often the room you're assigned is part of a flat with shared bathrooms and kitchens.
Unlike a lot of university accommodation, at Scape we can guarantee your own bathroom, as all our rooms and studios are en-suite as standard. Our communal areas are premium, newly refurbished spaces, and you get 24/7 access to facilities like an on-site gym and cinema room. Compared to other PBSAs, we offer the most central and convenient locations, higher-spec shared spaces, and fully trained Scape staff on-site around the clock — including a maintenance team at each property, so any issues get sorted quickly.
In second or third year, you'll most likely no longer have the option of university halls, but you'll have the choice of private accommodation — a flat or house share with friends. With this option, there's no guarantee of an en-suite, and rented student flats aren't always the highest quality. Your bills (utilities, fees, the lot) won't be included, and there's no on-site management or support if something goes wrong.
You could instead choose to book one of our large apartments with friends, and enjoy all the benefits of Scape — no bill-juggling, no chasing landlords, and communal areas that are cleaned regularly. And with energy costs still at the front of mind for a lot of students, your room price is fixed for the whole length of your contract, whatever happens to energy prices.
If you're continuing your studies at QMUL as a Masters or Postgraduate student, our Mile End property sits right on Queen Mary campus, with a range of large studios available — ideal for focused, independent study, with everything you need close by.

Does Scape offer accessible accommodation?
Yes. We want every resident to feel comfortable and at home, so accessibility is something we build in, not add on as an afterthought.
We offer accessible rooms and studios designed with extra space and adapted features to suit a range of needs. Our buildings also include accessible entrances, lifts, and communal areas, so getting around is straightforward wherever you're headed.
If you have specific accessibility needs — whether that's related to mobility, sensory needs, or anything else — get in touch with our team before you apply. We'll talk you through what's available at each property and help you find the right fit, rather than leaving you to guess from a floor plan. Our on-site staff are also on hand 24/7 if you need support once you've moved in.
