How to get around in Leeds?
Being in Leeds city centre on Merrion Street, most things are walkable! For everyday essentials, shopping, and socialising, walking is your best bet.
Our location being based just north of Leeds city centre means there are plenty of ways for you to get around. With all your local amenities, restaurants and bars just round the corner, you don't need a car. Walking will be your best bet when it comes to your food shops and general shopping. If you need to venture out further, there are excellent transport links, with regular bus services all over the city with bus stops right outside our building, which take you to the universities and sports grounds. Leeds mainline train station is only 10 minutes away. Leeds is well connected by train, and is within easy reach of cities like Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, and York.
Wanting to meet up with friends who live in student halls in Headingley? Hyde Park and Headingley are a short travel time away by bus.
Looking for some fresh air? It is also super quick to travel to local parks like Roundhay or go for a stroll along stretches of the River Aire.

Is the commute to university easy?
Scape Leeds is within 5 minutes of the major universities, courses and education hubs, with excellent transport links nearby. Your commute to campus will be easy from Scape Leeds, as we are just around the corner from the universities of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University. Leeds Uni is a 10-minute walk away, with Beckett campus only a 5-minute walk from the property. With great transport links and connections to all over the city, Scape is also a short trip away from other educational institutions in Leeds such as Leeds Trinity University and Leeds Arts University.
What is there to do in Leeds?
There is a lot to do in Leeds - it's a great city to study in! With a rich history, buzzing cosmopolitan environment, and fantastic food scene, Leeds is known as the foodie capital of the north.
For nightlife, Call Lane is just a 10-minute walk from Scape with plenty of bars, clubs and brunch spots. Pryzm nightclub and Belgrave Music Hall (with its rooftop terrace, live music, and Doughboys pizza) are right around the corner. The shopping in the city centre is excellent - from Trinity Leeds and Briggate street for high street brands to the historic Victoria Quarter for premium shops and Corn Exchange for vintage finds and independent stores.
Culturally, you can explore Leeds Art Gallery, the Henry Moore Institute with over 1,500 sculptures, or the Royal Armouries Museum. For green spaces, Merrion Gardens is directly opposite Scape, while Roundhay Park - one of Europe's biggest city parks - is just a 20-minute cycle away. Step through the doors of renowned museums, galleries and exhibitions, sample the vibrant independent food scene at Kirkgate Market (one of Europe's largest indoor markets), or catch a show at Leeds Playhouse or Grand Theatre.

What's the neighbourhood nightlife like near Scape Leeds?
The nightlife is brilliant and you've got cafes, clubs, art spaces and music venues all on your doorstep! Pryzm, one of Leeds' most famous nightclubs, is around the corner. Belgrave Music Hall is another popular student spot with two bars, live music, a roof terrace, Doughboys pizza and Patty Smith's burgers. Call Lane is just a 10-minute walk and packed with bars, clubs and late-night spots.
For live music and gigs, the O2 Academy is close by for bigger acts. And if you fancy a quieter night, there are plenty of cosy pubs and bars along the River Aire for a more relaxed vibe.
What are the best places to eat near Scape Leeds?
You're spoilt for choice! Right on Merrion Street you'll find Boojum, a viral burrito bar that's a student favourite. Bakery 164 opposite the University of Leeds serves gourmet sandwiches, while Kapow Coffee is a must-try for specialty coffee in a cool setting. Get Baked is famous for their 24-layer chocolate cake inspired by Matilda.
For something more substantial, try Poco for Sicilian street food, Zaap Thai, or Senbon Sakura for Japanese sushi and bento boxes at modest prices. Homeboy pizza does excellent NY-style slices, and if you're feeling fancy, Crafthouse or Kendells Bistro offer fine dining. There are also great bars lining the River Aire, perfect when the sun's out.
Are there parks and green spaces near Scape Leeds?
Yes! Merrion Gardens is literally across the road from Scape Leeds - perfect for a quick study break or picnic with friends. For bigger outdoor spaces, Roundhay Park is one of the largest city parks in Europe (700 acres!) and just a 20-minute cycle away with lakes, walking trails, and sports pitches.
Hyde Park (Woodhouse Moor) is the trendy student hangout when the sun comes out, and the River Aire is close by if you fancy a scenic stroll. Despite being in the city centre, you've got plenty of green space to enjoy!

We're located a short distance from your chosen uni. It is a 7-minute walk to Leeds Beckett University, and a 10-minute walk to the University of Leeds main campus via Woodhouse Lane.
Are there any additional fees or deposits?
Nope! Scape Leeds don't charge any additional fees or charge any deposits other than the advertised room rates. Unlike some landlords, we like to provide full details upfront, so our students understand exactly what they’re paying before confirming their stay. Your rent covers utilities, Wi-Fi, on-site gym, study spaces, events and 24/7 support — making budgeting simple for first time student renters.
What types of rooms can I choose from?
Choose from private studios or shared flats, with ensuite or shared bathrooms and fully furnished bedrooms, perfectly designed for student living.
Whether you are looking to live on your own or with close friends in a shared apartment we've got your needs covered with a range of room types. Choose to live with friends in our en suite rooms in one of our student flats. The apartments come with a shared lounge and kitchen. Great for Friday night hangouts! If you're looking for a place on your own, we have a number of different-sized private apartments and studio options. It is worth knowing that every room comes with a private bathroom.

Budgeting and cost of living in Leeds
The cost of living can come with an expensive price tag whilst studying, with student budgets being squeezed. The type of student accommodation you choose, the location and the rent can greatly impact how much your housing costs will be. Remember to consider the required size of a deposit when reviewing a lease or housing contract. When looking for student accommodation, other than the rent, you also need to factor in the cost of utilities, internet, other bills like laundry, groceries, transport fares, eating out, clothes, cost of beauty treatments and money set aside for having fun.
At Scape, contracts on our student housing include all services like 24hr reception, parcel collection, maintenance, utilities, Wi-Fi, cleaning and regular events. All amenities and facilities in the building are included as part of your rental. Our amazing amenities include areas such as, fitness centres, gym, study zones, meeting rooms, communal kitchen bars, lounges, terraces, plus utility bills are included as standard. Often, when living in a shared house, there is an additional fee associated with each of these benefits, but at Scape these are all included.

Can I walk to Leeds University and Leeds Beckett from Scape?
Absolutely! Scape Leeds is perfectly located for both universities. Leeds Beckett University and Leeds Art University are just a 5-minute walk away, while the University of Leeds is a 10-minute walk via Woodhouse Lane. You won't need to wake up extra early for lectures! If you're studying at Leeds Trinity University, there are excellent bus services right outside our building with regular connections.

What is included in the rent compared to other providers?
Unlike many homes and student rooms offered by private landlords, Scape Leeds includes all of your utilities, high speed Wi-Fi, on-site 24/7 fully equipped gym (making it easy to stay active during your study days), shared social spaces, and ongoing support - all wrapped up in the rent. Scape students can move into fully furnished studios, flats, and bedrooms, meaning fewer ikea trips and lower moving in costs compared to other student accommodation options.
Prices do vary by room type and tenancy length (some rooms are available for 41 weeks and some for summer or semester stays only). All fees include bills, Wi-Fi and access to on-site features — no hidden costs.
Do I need a guarantor to book a room?
No — Great news! Unlike many other private landlords and student homes, Scape Leeds does not require a guarantor to secure your booking. This can be particularly helpful for students without access to a UK-based guarantor, making the application process simpler and more inclusive.
What shops and shopping areas are near Scape Leeds?
Leeds is a shopping paradise and you're right in the middle of it! Trinity Leeds and Briggate street are a short walk away with hundreds of high street stores (don't forget to bring your student ID for exclusive discounts). The historic Victoria Quarter has high-end brands like Calvin Klein and Sweaty Betty.
Kirkgate Market is a must-visit as one of the biggest indoor markets in Europe, offering everything from food to fashion, homewares and jewellery. The Corn Exchange is iconic with independent shops selling vintage clothing, handmade jewellery, and unique items you won't find anywhere else.

Yes, we host weekly events which are a mix of on-site events and activities around the city. From Friday night hangouts to Superbowl screening, swap shops, and getting competitive with go-karting. Most events are free to join. For some off-site events there are limited spaces and there is a low-price set to secure your spot.
